Multipro Consumer Products Limited is the largest company in Nigeria dealing in Sales, Haulage and Logistics. MCPL was founded in 1996 as a fully owned company of the Tolaram Group. The first product sold by MCPL in 1996 was Indomie and since then it has played a seminal role in making Indomie a household brand in Nigeria. MCPL over the years has grown adding 13 brands in various categories comprising of Noodle, Snacks, Milk, Cereal, Oil, Homecare and Personal Hygiene.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Head Chef – Bar & Lounge
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
- The Head Chef is responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food production, maintaining hygiene standards, and managing kitchen staff.
- This role involves menu planning, cost control, and delivering an exceptional dining experience that aligns with the establishment’s brand.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Operations Management:
- Oversee daily kitchen operations and food preparation
- Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization
- Supervise food plating and presentation before service
Menu Planning & Development:
- Design and update menus based on trends and customer preferences
- Create new recipes and improve existing dishes
- Ensure menu variety, quality, and profitability
- Incorporate seasonal and locally available ingredients
Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen staff (Sous Chefs, Cooks, Kitchen Assistants)
- Schedule shifts and manage staff performance
- Foster teamwork and maintain discipline in the kitchen
- Conduct regular training on cooking techniques and safety.
Inventory & Cost Control:
- Manage food inventory and stock levels
- Order supplies and liaise with vendors
- Control food costs, minimize waste, and prevent theft
- Conduct regular stock checks and audits.
Food Safety & Hygiene
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Maintain proper food storage and handling procedures
- Enforce cleanliness and sanitation standards (HACCP principles)
- Monitor kitchen equipment maintenance.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef (5+ years preferred)
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is an advantage
- Strong knowledge of various cuisines and cooking techniques
- Experience in menu development and cost control
- Leadership and team management skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen best practices
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
