Job Title: Junior Accountant

About the Role

  • We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Junior Accountant to support the maintenance of accurate financial records, preparation of financial reports, and adherence to applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • The ideal candidate should possess at least 1 year of relevant experience in accounting and finance, asset management, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions in line with company policies
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment tracking, and preparation of payment remittance advice.
  • Support VAT and Withholding Tax (WHT) computations and filings in compliance with Nigerian tax laws
  • Post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
  • Manage relevant accounting schedules and fixed asset register
  • Participate in all inventory count exercises
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitor actual performance against budgets
  • Maintain proper documentation for audit purposes and support internal/external audits
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies
  • Use accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and Excel for financial data management
  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisors

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BSc/HND) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience
  • NYSC discharge certificate (mandatory)
  • ICAN certification or in progress is an added advantage
  • Basic knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations (VAT, WHT, PAYE)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
