Job Title: Accountant – Catering Sector
Location: Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports to: Finance Manager / General Manager
Job Summary
- We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to manage the financial operations of our catering business.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily accounting activities, monitoring cost efficiency, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing management with timely financial reports to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all catering operations, including events, daily sales, purchases, and expenses.
- Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and petty cash.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
- Prepare, monitor, and review budgets for catering projects and events.
- Track food and beverage costs, identify variances, and recommend cost-saving measures.
- Ensure cost-effective procurement in line with financial targets.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Manage invoices, payments, and receipts for suppliers and clients.
- Follow up on outstanding receivables and ensure timely payments to vendors.
Payroll Management:
- Process staff salaries, wages, and allowances in line with company policy.
- Ensure compliance with statutory deductions (PAYE, pensions, taxes, etc.).
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare periodic financial statements (weekly, monthly, quarterly).
- Provide management with profit and loss reports, cash flow analysis, and variance reports.
- Support in preparing year-end accounts and liaising with auditors.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations and company policies.
- Implement strong internal controls for cash handling, stock management, and expense monitoring.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3–5 years accounting experience, preferably in the catering, hospitality, or food service sector.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, cost accounting, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or Tally) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and support event-based operations.
- Strong integrity and attention to detail.
