Job Title: Account Officer

Location: Ilupeju, Lagos

Job Summary

  • An Account Officer wears many hats, balancing the precision of a bookkeeper with the communication skills of a liaison. Depending on the company, this role can lean toward internal finance (managing the books) or client management (managing business accounts).
  • The Account Officer will be responsible for managing financial records, overseeing billing and collections, and ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded. You will act as a key point of contact for financial inquiries and play a vital role in maintaining the company’s fiscal health and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software.
  • Invoicing & Billing: Generate invoices, track outstanding payments, and follow up on overdue accounts (Accounts Receivable).
  • Expense Management: Process vendor payments, verify expense reports, and manage petty cash (Accounts Payable).
  • Reconciliation: Perform daily or monthly bank reconciliations to ensure ledger accuracy.
  • Reporting: Assist in the preparation of weekly/monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Compliance: Ensure all financial activities adhere to company policies and local tax regulations.
  • Audit Support: Assist internal and external auditors by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in data entry and financial calculations.
  • Communication: Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues or clients.
  • Integrity: A strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle confidential financial data.

Salary
N120,000 – N150,000 per month.
